Anonymous asked: first, would absolutely love to see this finished. always loved tali's voice. lol. so its always exciting to see the cosplay done. and second, been scouring the internet, and i cant seem to find the pepakura for tali's helmet, where'd you find it?

I was directed to the file by someone on the 405th forum (which I guess has closed down now, or something?). It was a Megaupload file that someone made, and fortunately, I still have the file. I can e-mail it to you, if you’d like. :) If you message me off anon and give me your address, I’d be more than happy to. (I don’t like it when people message me on anon with their e-mail addresses D:) You’ll need to get Pepakura Designer to scale it, though.
But yes! Send me your e-mail, and I’ll send that to you :)

I’ve really been neglecting this blog…

Through my lack of time and money, I’ve been getting bits and bobs done on this costume; once the summer rolls around and I have cash to burn, I’ll be dedicating much more time to this. But for now, let me tell you where I’m at:

1) I have a bodysuit! It’s just black and simple right now, but it’s exactly what I needed and will serve as a perfect base. I’m glad I didn’t have to sew it myself. Though I probably could have.

2) I have EL wire and a voice amp!! The EL wire is voice activated and looks perfect inside the mouthpiece of the helmet. The voice amp just needs batteries.

3) I have pieces of the helmet done; just need to attach them to the visor.

4) I have some pleather I can use to make harnesses as belts; I just need to sit down and actually use it.

5) I figured out Tali’s feet for realsies this time; the trial run I did a while back with the flipflops didn’t work at all; I couldn’t walk normally and ended up looking like a duck, nor could the feet stay on, so instead, I am buying THESE:

These babies are genuine Tabi, or Ninja Shoes, from JList.com; I found them on eBay, but they were cheaper on here. They’re sized by centimeters, so if you want them and don’t use this measurement, you’ll need to figure out how many centimeters your feet are.

But they’re adjustable up along the calf! :D Yay for people will big calves (like me)

They also have rubber soles; I may paint the bottom of these grey, or I may leave it. Depends, I suppose; but I guess they’re super comfy to walk in.

And it’ll give that Quarian foot look without being super uncomfortable and awkward

I’m stoked to get these. Tali’s always been kind of ninja anyway, and now I’ll feel even more badass in these kicks. >3

Hope everyone’s costumes are going well! :D

Anonymous asked: Hi there. I'm not sure if this is an old page or not, but I've been scouring the web trying to find a pepakura file for a Quarian respirator helmet. I've been searching for nearly a month now. Do you still have the files and if it's not too much of a problem could you email me a copy? My email is blfx729@gmail. Thanks in advance.

Sent to you, Anon! :D Under the name ‘Megan Townshend’; good luck!

Anonymous asked: Hi, I came across your designs randomly while trying to learn about making my own cosplay costumes, id like to work up to doing a Tali costume. Your tutorials are really well done and your costume looked fantastic! Bravo. sadly, i cant seem to read it in English, it always showes all your tutorial posts in a forign language. I would love to read all of what you wrote on your Tali tutorial,if you know of an way i could get it from a different source please let me know, rachelstarr1989@hotmail,com

Hi Anon!

That Tali costume is actually not mine and I did not write those tutorials; they’re done by a young Spanish woman (not exactly sure of her exact location) and I reblogged her photos and tutorial pages to show what I aspire to do and to help give my followers a place to go for more experience.

While it’s not 100% accurate, you can translate the blog posts on Google Translate; it may be a bit difficult to understand fully, but hey - it’ll be in English! ;P

Good luck!

Anonymous asked: I stumbled across your blog while hunting for a .pdo file of Tali's mask. Would you be willing to share the unfolded file that can be viewed in Pepakura? My email is hnbrown1214@gmail. From what I've seen on your blog, the costume is looking great and I love the attention to detail.

Hi Nonnie! Sorry for the delay! I sent it off to you, and it’s under the name Megan Townshend. :) I wish you the best of luck with your cosplay! :)
Thank you very much for your kind words, as well :3

Quick Update

Hello, everyone!

Sorry about the lack of posting; due to school, I haven’t had the time or money to work on anything right now… but there’s a definite plan in place.

A friend of mine will be helping me make my leg armour; I still have to sew a bit of the costume and purchase a few more things, but most of the work now is just nitty-gritty work.

I have more photos of my helmet now; I’ll post those as soon as I can!

I hope everyone’s having a good holiday season! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyous Kwanza, whatever it is your celebrate!
